THE LITTLE PICKLE
The Little Pickle is an 1100 square foot retail restaurant in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. An interior renovation of an existing retail storefront, the simple program and tight budget required creative consideration of the project scope and led to an open space with simple industrial finishes.
The renovation included replacing existing sagging floors with a polished concrete slab, exposing and sealing the existing brick masonry walls, and designing and installing new mechanical and lighting systems. The existing tin ceiling and crown molding were retained and new spiral ductwork was left exposed. We also collaborated closely with the owners to design an efficient kitchen production line that maximizes workflow.
Much of the interior work including the furniture, light fixtures, and finish work was self-performed by the owners. The result is a fun and engaging atmosphere that reflects the creative spirit of its owners and has reinvigorated the local street corner.
This project was done in collaboration with Ron Kwaske, Architect.
